Archaeology of war
At around 2200 meters above sea level in the Brescian Pre-Alps stands the former NATO Base of Dosso dei Galli. Two imposing parabolas stand out on a rise, the absence of vegetation all around contributes to the idea of a lunar landscape. In 1969, during the Cold War, the Atlantic Alliance chose this site to build one of the 49 radio stations that made up the ACE High system, a belt that allowed the rapid exchange of military communications from far north to southern Europe. In 1995 the base was abandoned, the technology became obsolete and the equipment was looted. A huge Palestinian flag has also appeared on one of the parabolas.
